Bio: I am a safety professional with over 10 years of experience, beginning my career in the heavy industrial sector after earning my degree in Safety Sciences from Indiana University. I joined AMS Industries, Inc. in 2015 and have since achieved my CHST credential along with numerous other certifications.
I am a certified OSHA instructor (OSHA 510), a qualified Rigger/Signal Person, and an ASME Rigging Instructor. Throughout my career, I have been directly involved in a wide range of crane operations, from routine rooftop unit (RTU) lifts to highly complex maneuvers, including flipping a 250,000 lb. boiler and coordinating tandem crane picks.
My professional focus is ensuring safe, efficient lifting operations by combining technical expertise with practical field experience.
Description: This presentation provides a structured overview of crane safety practices tailored for mechanical contracting environments. It begins with the importance of crane safety, highlighting the risks, potential consequences, and the goal of preventing accidents through awareness and planning.
Objective Takeaways:
- Every crane lift must be planned, not improvised.
- Clear communication saves lives.
- Load charts and inspections are mandatory.
- Stay out of the swing radius and away from suspended loads.
- Safety is a team responsibility shared by everyone.
